Year 2 Design & Technology
Year 2 talked about different vegetables and how eating a colourful selection of vegetables often contains a wider range of nutrients. They experimenting in chopping, grating and peeling vegetables to make a colourful layered salad pot.
Ice
The cold weather last week has inspired us to investigate ice. The week is off to a great start using ice to practise our fine motor skills. We are using ice blocks with food colouring to draw pictures, write our names and make shapes on the paper.
Subitising
Practising our subitising skills in class this week. We are rolling a dice, recognising the number then circling the corresponding dots on a piece of paper. The children are loving this already.
Balloon excitement

Equator, Northern and Southern Hemisphere
This term we are looking at how the Earth is divided.
We looked at how the Equator bisects the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
We then researched and discussed the differences between the two hemispheres.
The Magi Followed the Star
We visited to church to see the crib and the three wise men visiting baby Jesus. We talked about how the 3 kings are also called ‘The Magi’ and we spoke about the importance of the star that they followed to find baby Jesus. One of our little boys suggested we sing the ‘Little Baby Jesus’ song…

Naughty Bus
This week we have started our new book ‘Naughty Bus’. We have explored some of the famous landmarks in London as part of our work. The children have loved taking this into provision and building their own versions.

Ben from Active Sefton came to visit Year 1 this afternoon to talk about oral hygiene and how to keep our teeth healthy. The children were very excited to tell Ben about their wobbly teeth ????
