English Martyrs Catholic Primary School is a creative and forward-thinking school. We aim to nurture and inspire our learners to become motivated and successful citizens who are equipped to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. We do this by creating a positive, stimulating environment that is welcoming to all and promotes the development of children’s academic, social, moral, spiritual and physical learning.

English Martyrs Catholic Primary School is a two form entry Primary School catering for children from 3 to 11. There are 14 classes with 30 children per class and full-time and part-time Nursery provision for up to 56 children. The classes are organised into age groups with two classes in each year group from Reception through to Year 6.

Our most recent Ofsted report in October 2019 stated that, ‘Parents, pupils and staff agree that English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary School is a happy, friendly and caring school.’

They recognised that ‘Leaders set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour.’

They identified that, ‘Pupils listen carefully to adults and to each other…[and] they take care with the presentation of their work.’

Importantly, Ofsted recognised ‘Everyone’s mental health and well-being is top priority.’

Our school motto

Our school motto is, ‘Through Christ we believe, inspire, achieve,’ because Jesus Christ’s example to us is at the heart of everything we do. We provide a rich and varied curriculum that enables everyone to succeed. We have high expectations of our children and provide lots of support to help them achieve. We believe everyone should enjoy school and we plan lots of exciting activities to make learning fun.

Our Core Values

Our Core Values – Spirituality, Curiosity, Emotional Well-being and Resilience – are very important to us. Children learn about these values and are expected to support them. We expect children to treat one and other in a friendly and fair manner. If bullying occurs we deal with it as quickly as possible and with the co-operation of parents.

We aim to provide a learning environment where children can be safebe happy and have fun. Children learn best when school and parents work together. We work in partnership with parents and carers to support children and are always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss children’s progress. It is the responsibility of the whole school community to ensure that every child feels cared for and safe in our school.
