Class of 2030 (Y1)

Year 1-Design and Technology-Rainbow wraps 

We had lots of fun in Year 1 making rainbow wraps. We talked about which foods are healthy and how they contain vitamins. The children used graters and peelers to make the wraps. “They are so yummy!” 

Year 1-Science-Material hunt

The children worked in groups to explore and find different materials around our school.

“Fred is made out of fabric.”

Year 2 talked about different vegetables and how eating a colourful selection of vegetables often contains a wider range of nutrients. They experimenting in chopping, grating and peeling vegetables to make a colourful layered salad pot.

Year 2 visited church today to see the crib. 

Year 1-Active Sefton-Oral Hygiene 

Ben from Active Sefton came to visit Year 1 this afternoon to talk about oral hygiene and how to keep our teeth healthy. The children were very excited to tell Ben about their wobbly teeth ???? 

Year 1 Science-What are materials? 

We have been talking about materials in class today. We looked at different objects and matched the correct label to each one. We thought about objects at home and what material they are made from.

Year 1- Design & Technology

We have been learning about the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.  We have looked at different methods of joining- slots, flaps and flanges. We then designed our own amazing towers. We will build our towers this week in class. 

Year 1- Christmas Assembly 

A huge thank you to everyone who made our Year 1 Christmas Assembly such a special event. The children put in so much effort and enthusiasm, and it was truly heartwarming to see their joy and excitement shine through as they performed. Well done year 1!

How can we stop a tower from toppling over? The children have used various resources to make towers in class this afternoon. We talked about the size of the base and how to make it balance.

Year 1- Christmas Prayers 

We have been thinking about who we would like to say a special Christmas prayer to over this festive period. Each child designed their own prayer to share with the class. 

Year 1- Art-Painting

This week Year 1 have been looking at the artist Piet Mondrian a Dutch painter. They created their own pieces of artwork using primary colours. 

The children enjoyed practising jumps, rolls and balances on a range of apparatus.
