Class of 2031 (Rec)

The cubes have created lots of excitement in class and today the children were trying to build a tower that was taller than the teacher! Lots of great mathematical language was used and the children had lots of fun. 

Super creative work going on today in Reception.  Nala has built a replica of London. 

Today in the outdoor resource are the children are investigating classroom objects to see if they float or sink in a bowl of water.  They were very excited to see if their predictions were correct or not!

Today we visited English Martyrs’s church to see the crib with the three Kings now in attendance.  

The cold weather last week has inspired us to investigate ice.  The week is off to a great start using ice to practise our fine motor skills.  We are using ice blocks with food colouring to draw pictures, write our names and make shapes on the paper. 

Practising our subitising skills in class this week. We are rolling a dice, recognising the number then circling the corresponding dots on a piece of paper.  The children are loving this already.  

This week we have started our new book ‘Naughty Bus’. We have explored some of the famous landmarks in London as part of our work.  The children have loved taking this into provision and building their own versions. 

We have been talking about how Jesus loves us all and how we can show that love to others. We used the example of Jesus washing feet and demonstrated this in class.  We then talked about how we can show Jesus’ love by being kind to others, helping our friends, smiling and giving…

This week the children have been making Christmas treats! First we melted some chocolate and we talked about how we had to warm the chocolate to do this. We then dipped biscuits into the chocolate and added eyes, a nose and some antlers to turn them into reindeers! We had so much…

Today was the big day for Reception’s Nativity.  The children all performed brilliantly and we are very proud of them all. The singing raised the roof and the acting was outstanding. Especially well done to everyone who had lines to say.
