Mrs Walsh, SENCO

Here at English Martyrs we aim to be as inclusive as possible for all pupils. For more information please contact Mrs Walsh,  SENDCO on tel: 0151 928 5601 or via the e-mail contact form on the Contact Us page.

Throughout school life a child may have some difficulties academically, socially or emotionally.  We have facilities for certain kinds of extra help for children in the school.  If these are not sufficient we can call in outside help such as the Educational Psychologist, School Health Visitor or specialist teachers.  Some of these processes are quite formal but parents are always involved in any discussion or plan about their child.

All Sefton schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (S.E.N.D.) and are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with a Special Educational Need/s being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible, where families want this to happen.

Sefton Council’s Local Offer provides clear and accessible information about the provision that is expected, locally, for children and young people from 0 to 25 years who have special educational needs and/or disability (S.E.N.D.).

Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education Health Care Plan that names our school will be offered a place without using the admission criteria and will count as part of the school’s published admission number. See our Admission page for further details.
