Nursery

The sun was shining and we have been busy gardening this week. We have weeded and cleared before planting a variety of bedding plants.  We have been observing and noticing differences between the plants and exploring the soil as we dig.  

This week we have been talking about healthy snacks and made our own wraps. The children were able to describe the different tastes, colours and shapes of the fillings. They carefully cut up the tomatoes and cucumber and then added what they wanted to their wraps to take home for lunch. Well done…

In response to the text Gigantosaurus, the playdough table has been very popular in Nursery A this week.  The children have been using different dinosaur footprints to impress into their dough and predicting what the dinosaurs may have looked like.  

Today the children used paints, brushes, string and teabags to create colourful firework paintings. They worked together and shared their ideas while exploring paint using different tools. 

This week we are playing with shape puzzles and simple jigsaws in our continuous provision. Today we matched a range of objects to their shadows concentrating on the shapes we could see. We also played a matching numicon and numeral game together. 

The children in Nursery A have been showing off their knowledge of shapes this week.  We have been exploring different shapes and today collected blossom that has fallen from our beautiful nursery tree, to fill shapes and create different shapes on our own and in small groups.

The children in Nursery A have been combining their drawing, painting and collage skills over the past few weeks to create amazing joint pieces of artwork. 

Parachute play provides opportunities for cooperation, participation, turn taking and creativity.  We are developing our gross motor skills and our listening skills.  The children loved hiding underneath it too!
