As part of World Space Week, we explored the race to land on the Moon. 

We then discussed what items we would take to space and why. 

Finally, we created artwork imagining what we would see if we looked out of a rocket window.

Today the children enjoyed water play in tyres and tuff trays. After watching England’s highlights, we imagined being at a swimming pool or beach in Mexico. The children talked about the weather and how the water felt on their feet and legs.

The children are having a wonderful week outdoors in forest school with the  sunshine. They are exploring with water, playing in the mud kitchen, practising balancing, playing parachute games and building strong friendships. They also enjoyed story time outdoors with an ice-pop to cool down. 

We were very excited when we came into school today and noticed that our caterpillars had hatched out of their chrysalis' into beautiful butterflies.  After lunch we all went into the garden to set them free and watched as they flew away.  

The children made delicious roasted vegetable pasta sauce today using onions, courgettes, peppers, carrot and tomato.  We prepared and chopped the vegetables, coated them in oil and baked them in the oven.  We then blended them together and combined them with cooked pasta to create a delicious…

Today we looked at what is a mammal and an amphibian. We looked at what is a living thing before exploring the similarities and differences between mammals and amphibians.

After weeks of watching and waiting our caterpillars emerged from their chrysalis’ as beautiful butterflies. Today it was time to release them.  We were so excited, just look at our faces! 

As the warmer weather arrives, the children are enjoying looking for insects and minibeasts. They have found woodlouse, spiders, beetles, ladybirds and ants so far and are looking forward to finding more after half term. 

This week the children have enjoyed engaging in sensory water play.  Intended to support fine motor skills and develop mathematical and scientific concepts, the children have focused on this form of play for extended periods.
