Reception Nativity
Today was the big day for Reception’s Nativity. The children all performed brilliantly and we are very proud of them all. The singing raised the roof and the acting was outstanding. Especially well done to everyone who had lines to say.
Independent Reading
We use our phonics knowledge to help us make and read words independently.
Reading Corner
Such lovely afternoons spent with our friends reading books and enjoying each others company. #specialtimes
Snack
We love a good snack time in Reception. We enjoy a range of healthy snacks in class each afternoon and the children enjoy helping to prepare it. We practice our fine motor skills, by spreading butter and jam and pouring out our drinks, we practice maths, by working out if there are enough chairs…
The Drawing Club!
This week in our literacy work, the children have joined the Drawing Club! Our Drawing Club has been based on the book ‘The Christmas Pine’ and the aim is to spark the children’s imagination and develop language through creating “magic codes” like letters or words into their drawings. First we…
Sharing our Home School Diaries
The week we have been reading the Christmas Pine. The book tells the story of a Norwegian pine tree chosen to be the annual Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square. The story’s meaning symbolises peace and friendship as the tree is a gift from Norway to the UK. This week the children designed their own…
SWACA Visit
Yesterday we were really lucky to receive a visit from SWACA, a women and children’s charity that support families in our area. They talked to the children about relationships and being kind to each other. They challenged stereotypes in regards to toys and games the children play. We celebrated…
The Annunciation
We listened to the story of the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby boy. We got dresssed up and acted it out.
Bonfire night
Our home school diary task this week was to talk about bonfire night and what we did to celebrate. We then thought about the fireworks we saw in the sky and created our own firework pictures. First we selected different colours and mixed them together, we then used a sponge to print the paint on…
Building relationships
Sometimes its just the quiet moments of building a shared structure that can encourage such lovely friendships. The language, smiles and co operation that takes place fosters positive relationships and gives each child a sense of belonging.
Shapes
Today we have looked at 2D shapes. The children identified the shapes and then went into provision to find them. We discussed not being able to pick up a 2D shape and that we would need to draw round these for them to be a true circle or triangle.
‘We Remember’ 11 November 2025
Today we remembered the brave soldiers who fought in the wars. The children watched a CBeebies animation that sees war as experienced by animals in a field. The children have also loved making their own poppies using playdoh and buttons and pastels.
