Today we have been talking about being made welcome.  We went over to church and re enacted a baptism and discussed being welcome in the Church’s family.

Today we listened to the story, Rose Blanche, and examined the actions of the main character.

We imagined what Rose may have wrote to a friend upon her discovery and how she would justify her actions.

The children were engaged with the story and moved by the events.

Physical development is part of everything we do in nursery. Each day we are developing and strengthening our fine and gross motor skills through the different activities we do. We are mark-making, playing musical instruments, lifting and carrying, balancing and building as well as feeding…

We have been enjoying the autumnal sunshine this morning in the garden. The children have loved exploring, we have found lots of lady birds!  We had a campfire with cake and songs.

After reading the story ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy, some of the children chose to explore and build a rocket with the wooden blocks.  They explored how to position the blocks in different ways using the language big, bigger, small, smaller.  

The children have been busy this morning building a bridge to our outdoor autumn cafe.  We saw some brilliant teamwork and problem solving.

A newly donated glockenspiel became a focal point in nursery this morning and we ended up having a nursery rhyme medley led by Mrs Bruchez with Mrs McIntyre joining in on the flute!

This week the children have had lots of fun playing outdoors in the lovely sunshine. They have been reading, painting and building together. Indoors they are enjoying role-playing in the home corner and are learning to take turns. 

We enjoy lots of healthy snack in Reception.  Today we were trying a garlic dip with breadstick and fruit.  It was delicious!
