The children looked at images of waves and then listened to Fingal’s Cave by Mendelssohn. They used a range of tools to create their own waves picture using curves, curls, dots, specks and flecks.

Today the children have been using viewfinders to recreate parts of Hundertwasser’s artwork.

They looked at a range of his paintings and selected parts of each to copy into their sketchbooks.

The children used a range of media to express their emotions to different pieces of classical music, through mark- making.

Today we have been exploring subtractive drawing. A technique where something is taken away from the surface of a painting to reveal marks.

After reading ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendricks and Paul Linnet, the children went home and created their own Supertato hero. They shared their wonderful creations with their friends and talked about their different super powers.  

We have been using vegetable to explore texture and print this week.  The children have mixed colours and appparatus to create their own pictures using vegetables to print from. 

Year 2 enjoyed creating their own Aboriginal art versions.

Today we investigated the effect of different salts when added to water colours. We used table, epsom and Himalayan salt along with a combination of each to create the different effects.

The children impressed us all with their creative and teamwork skills this week.  Working together and using their own ideas, they designed and made a large and imaginative birthday cake as part of their play dough and role-play.  All topped off with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.  What a…

The children are continuing to explore with clay. They have all made and painted their favourite minibeasts which we have displayed in our window.
