Spring – Strength
This term we will be reading traditional tales and studying The Romans. In Science we will be looking at Teeth, Healthy Eating and Magnets.
Summer – Imagination
We will be reading works by Roald Dahl, and learning lots about the Egyptians. Helping Plants Grow will be our Science topic.

Learning in Y3:

Throughout Year Three we will cover the x2, x3, x4, x5, x6 x10 multiplication tables so please practice quick fire questions even in the car, walking to school or in the bath! Other important facts to learn are number bonds to 20 then to 100, doubles and halves of all numbers up to 20. Good luck and have fun!
Children can have a bottle of water in class with a sports top. Bottles should be taken home on a Friday to be washed.
PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday. Girls must remove earrings or cover them with plasters.

Home Learning:

Every Friday a home task will go home in their Home Task book. These should be completed and returned to school by the following Wednesday. Please come and see us before or after school if you are unsure about any of the tasks set. Sometimes we will send home ‘Ask me about…’ slips. This is when you ask your child about what is written on the slip. It will usually be about work they have done in school and they have chosen this to share with you. We will continue to follow the ‘Sounds Write’ programme and any spellings given will be linked to this. Children must bring their school book bag everyday. It will help your child enormously if you can try and read with them everyday. All reading counts including weekly shopping lists and TV Guides! Children will complete reading tasks on a daily basis and we aim to hear them read and change their books each week.

Whilst all the essential skills will be covered thoroughly, we are trying to become more creative in our approach to the curriculum and would welcome any ideas you have! If you have any worries or would like advice, support or resources for anything, please come through the office after school to see us!
