World Space Week – Planetarium and Workshops

We were so lucky to have Vacuum Scientist, Keith Middleman, come into school to deliver some superb science workshops. He brought some of the phenomena of space into our classroom as he demonstrated what happened when air was devoid and a vacuum was created. We realised why astronauts need their space suits when we saw how much marshmallows expand in a vacuum – that’s what would happen to a pair of lungs!

The planetarium was also amazing. We got to see various constellations as day turned to night. We lay under the stars and saw the planets by scale.
Thank you to Keith, Wendy, Gemma and James for your expert knowledge and time!
