Science Ambassadors Meet

When our Ambassadors meet with Miss Boardman, we always complete a little experiment. This time, we read in the news that scientists have discovered the footprints of the smallest dinosaur. To celebrate this find, we coloured in dinosaurs, went down to the kitchen and placed them in the oven! Our Ambassadors were concerned and covered their eyes as they didn’t know what the poor dinosaurs’ fate would be. When they came out of the oven in one piece but significantly smaller, the children were overjoyed. We discussed the notion of ‘shrink plastic’ and how the plastic film bends, warps, curls and then slowly flattens into its original shape. The difference is that our dinosaur shrunk by approximately two-thirds, and it was nine times thicker. The result was a more rigid, durable and tiny dinosaur which resembled the scientists latest finds!
