Proms in the Park 2014

St Mary’s Proms in the Park

On Saturday 5th July, KS2 pupils from Year 4, 5 &amp 6 attended the St Mary’s Proms in the Park event. A highlight video from the event can be seen on the website. It was a glorious evening with&nbspnearly 3,000 people attending in the summer sunshine to witness a veritable feast of music from pupils from The Mount and St Mary’s College choirs and ensembles.&nbsp

photoOur children performed two songs and began with&nbspa multi-rhythm African Djembe drum piece. Feedback from the performance was wonderful with the children gaining praise for the way they performed, smiled and carried themselves. A huge thank-you to all the staff, parents and pupils for making it such an amazing event! A special word of thanks must go to Mrs Lynn Tunstall for her inspiration and also to Mr Andrew Byers, Musical Director at St Mary’s College, for allowing us to&nbspbe part of the celebrations.

Mr Byers&nbspsaid: “First of all, let me say a huge ‘Well done’! English Martyrs were fantastic not just their wonderful performance, but the children were an absolute credit to you and your school. Impeccably behaved and respectful at all times. Quite frankly, having worked with numerous primary schools in Merseyside and sefton, I can honestly say I have not come across a better standard of performance in such young children. Well rehearsed, confident and they conducted themselves with great finesses.”&nbsp

We also got a metion on Radio Merseyside by Roger Phillips, compere for the Proms in the Park event, who was very complimentary about the children and staff too. You can listen to his radio show by clicking here and scrolling through to 1.41:50: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p021hvdm
