The government has providing funding to school to cover a one-off universal catch-up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year. It aims to support pupils to catch up for lost learning following the Covid-19 Pandemic and national lockdowns so schools can meet the curriculum expectations for the next academic year.
Schools will receive a total of £80 per pupil (for reception through to year 6), as follows:
- 3 instalments – in autumn 2020, ‘early 2021’ and summer 2021
- A total of £46.67 per pupil split across payments 1 and 2
- A further £33.33 per pupil for payment 3
It is up to individual schools how to effectively spend this funding to achieve the greatest results for their pupils.
In September 2020, it is our plan that we return to “life as normal as possible, as safe as possible”.
Our Recovery Curriculum Plan & Catch Up Funding Report:
The Recovery Curriculum Plan will give you an overview of our approach for September 2020 and beyond. The key message is around loss and supporting the children for the loss they may be feeling (loss of friendships, loss of opportunity, loss of freedom). In addition to this the Catch Funding Report identifies our strategy and associated spending.
