Welcome to English Martyrs Nursery!

Our aim is to enable our children to value themselves and others. We encourage them to determine right from wrong and to show a willingness to learn and to explore. We follow Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines, providing a balance of child initiated and adult led activities.

Every Child Matters in our nursery and one way of ensuring this belief is to allocate each child to a ‘Key Person.’ A Key Person has special responsibilities for working with a small group of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with parents.

The Key Person will help your child to become familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it. If you have any concerns or you would like to talk about your child, then your child’s Key Person will always be available to spend time with you. The Class Teacher will also be happy to speak with you at any time. Even when children can hold people in mind from home, for longer, there is still a need for them to have a Key Person to depend on in the setting.

We would like to welcome our new Nursery Hamster! The children are taking very good care of him and have had great fun in naming him! We are really pleased with how your children have settled into Nursery. They all look very smart in their new uniforms and they are a credit to you. Please remember to check your child’s tray regularly for letters. All information is displayed on our Notice Board or in the Nursery ‘window!’
